  1. Excellent feature John, I was brought up in an era when the replica kit was just a fantasy, The first Leicester kit I had was “DIY” jobbie, My Mam had to sew the badge on it to make it look owt like, I would have gave anything for a 1974 Leicester shirt with Frank Worhington’s No.9 on it.
Then Admiral came along and al that changed, (Gaz Silke’s article in the foxfanzine is spot on) Everywhere you looked in Leicestershire there was kids in West Ham shirts, Wales shorts, Southampton socks anything Admiral related was gleefully sifted out of the Admiral seconds box, most towns and large villages in Leicestershire had a shop that sold Admiral seconds, though not all were sports shops, The DIY shop in my village sold them, Aye those were the days!!!

  2. Can anyone remember Leicester having a third kit of all red around 1976-79 with the same admiral trim as home and away kits,i’m sure i remember seeing it when i was a kid.
Keep up the good work John, any thoughts of doing Bukta special along the same lines????

  3. Hello Keith, It wouldn’t surprise me as if you have a blue home and white away you will always need a third kit for the likes of Sheff Wed, Blackburn etc. I’ll try and dig around and get it added. Eventually I do want to include every Admiral kit from the 70s.

  4. Leicester definitely had a red kit of that description in the late 70’s, I remember seeing an old episode of Match of the 70’s on YouTube recently and they wore it in one fixture at Man City – even though the white away kit would have sufficed!

  5. Keith,

Leicester DID wear an all-red away kit in 1977, and perhaps for the subsequent two seasons? It was identical in design to the home shirt, with Admiral logos on the neck line and sleeve seams in red. Interestingly, Leicester appear to be the only other club, apart from Man. Utd who did not have an Admiral logo on their shirt front, or collar. Does anyone have any info why that was?
